2 methods of sharpening in Photoshop

USM

1)Duplicate background

2)Filter>sharpen>unsharp mask or smart sharpen

3)Move slider around so sharper but not fake or halo

4)Can change the opacity of the sharpened layer if needed. Or add a layer mask.

High Pass Filter

1)Duplicate background or select topmost layer and press ctrl-shift-alt-E

2)Filter>other>high pass

3)Radius to around 0-3 pixels. Or not. Depends.

4)Set high pass layer to overlay/softlight/hardlight

5)Adjust opacity of layer

6)Apply layer mask if needed
